We are pleased that you have dental insurance and as a service to you we are happy to assist in filing your claims. In an effort to keep our costs and accounting fees to a minimum and to therefore better serve you, we do ask that your co-payment be taken care of at the time services are rendered. Ultimately your financial obligation and payment arrangements will be entirely between you and our office, and your insurance carrier will be responsible to you. We will file your claims promptly so that payment from your insurance will arrive in a timely manner. We allow 45 days for your insurance company to respond with their portion. Should they not respond within 45 days, you will need to take care of your balance and discuss any reimbursements with your insurance carrier directly.
The following are some facts concerning our experience with the dental insurance.
1. Your dental coverage is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance carrier. We are not a party to that contract.
2. Dental insurance is not meant to be a "pay-all", it is only an aid in completing your treatment.
3. State law mandates that carriers process and pay claims with in 30 days or less from date of receipt of claim.
4. Insurance carriers quote a "UCR" or Usual, Customary, and Reasonable fee. This may lead you to believe that it is based on an accurate average of fees in a demographic area. Each insurance carrier, however, has their own formula to calculate these averages, and they are restricted by the amount of premiums paid in by your employer. Any private practice doctor offering quality, individualized care, will most certainly have fees that are higher than the insurance carrier's quoted "UCR" or prescribed "average."
5. Statistics tell us that on average, an individual is with a dental
insurance carrier for 1-2 years. Their profitability model is based on that 2 year window. Our goal for you is a lifetime of comfort, function and aesthetics utilizing state of the art materials and techniques.
It is important to us that you remember that we are happy to assist you with your insurance in any way we can, HOWEVER:
We diagnose according to your specific individual needs, regardless of what your dental insurance may or may not contractually cover.
